DHS ’89 Memorial Scholarship Fund

Through our DHS Class of 1989 Memorial Scholarship Fund managed by our friends at the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation, we have contributed over $55,000 through generous support of the annual Marauder Trotter 5k Run/Walk and other sources since 2014.  Our annual scholarship (which has grown to $1,000) is awarded to a graduating DHS senior pursuing a degree through higher education.  The scholarship was established to honor our deceased classmates from the DHS Class of 1989.

Congratulations to our past award recipients

There are multiple ways to give a gift to the DHS Class of 1989 Memorial Scholarship Fund. We never touch the principal gift you leave; we only use a percentage of the interest for grantmaking. The remainder goes back into the fund.

The easiest way is to send a check made out to the NCCF (including the fund name on the memo line) and mailed to NCCF at 212 Lakeshore Drive West, Dunkirk, NY 14048. Others prefer to make an online payment. Easy enough when you visit the fund webpage at www.nccfoundation.org/classof89 using the Donate To button.

Leaving a legacy is another excellent opportunity for supporting the DHS Class of 1989 Memorial Scholarship Fund! There are several ways that you can give. Besides the above cash gifts, you may also leave a bequest in your will and/or request that memorials be made to this fund, designate all or a portion of your retirement plan accounts, or identify the fund as a beneficiary in your life insurance policy.

Here’s a sample obituary addition:
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to the Dunkirk High School Class of 1989 Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation, 212 Lake Shore Drive West, Dunkirk, NY 14048.

Additional information is available on the DHS Class of 1989 Memorial Scholarship Fund webpage by following the appropriate links.  You may also contact Diane Hannum at 716-366-4892 or dhannum@nccfoundation.org to discuss how you can build your community by leaving a legacy for future generations.
